The interface is a bit clunky (I built it last minute), so for some of you it may be a slow load, but be patient, and it should all work out fine. You knew it was going to be a great episode if Chekov was at the helm, if only to hear Walter Koenig's crispy Cyrillic commentary, accompanied by his eyebrow wagging gesticulations. Obviously cast as a sort of "Cosmonaut Davey Jones," to attract the teeny-bopper viewers, Koenig managed to turn what was originally a rather thinly-written character into a genuine sci-fi icon.

In keeping with this month's color theme, I've posted two more heroes of the Golden Age - the card-sharp crime-buster Black Jack, and the high-flying freedom fighter Blackhawk (pictured at left.) The Black Terror Strikes!

This month's first (yes, there will be more) download is a "terrific" diorama designed by our master designer J.P. Cote. This action-packed little number is based on the classic Alex Schomberg cover art for Nedor's Exciting Comics #45 (April 1946), featuring the Terror Twins locked in combat against anonymous villains, which I have dubbed the Robot Master and The Robot (real creative, I know). The pictures of J.P.'s build do not include Kid Terror, as he is not a favorite character of Mr. Cote's and was left out of the original design. To keep the purists happy, I have included the option to put Tim into the picture if so desired. You can download the diorama and figures HERE..

We've got LOTS of stuff cooking right now, with some big plans for major releases in the next couple of month; so things have been a bit slow on both the blog and the site itself. To keep things moving, albeit a little later than planned, is the new download for July.

First up, from Timely Comics, it's The Challenger - The Master of all Weapons. He comes with three costume variants and a slew of deadly accessories. Next, to make up for the wait, and answer numerous requests, it's another Timely treat turned Marvel icon - Toro! Add this model of the Human Torch's sidekick, and your First Invaders and All-Winners Comics sets are now complete! He's a bit of a cheat, being just a modified/rescaled Torch, but he'll do the trick.

Where Have We Been?

Hello friends! Looking at the previous post, it's been nearly 6 months since I've spent any time on the website or blog. Yikes! I appreciate the patience of my followers as I navigated the twists and turns of my other life. I do plan to spend more time here in the near future.( I have all sorts of content that needs to be tidied up before it lands here.)

To kick off what I hope will be a far more prolific second half of the year, I offer a new model - THOR. He's in the Silver Age costume, complete with trusty Mjolnir in hand. I've also unlocked all the other models, and re-released several of the Bat-Villains. Get them all HERE.

G.A.S.P. is kicking off the new year with a couple of new character models. First, there's Timely Comics' answer to the Flash - The Whizzer! (That name may have worked in the 40's, but it takes on much different, and hilarious connotations today!). Then there's one of my favorite DC lesser-knowns, Jack Kirby's Manhunter (at left). There's also a couple of pulp hero holdovers from the Holiday prezzies - Green Hornet & Kato and Dick Tracy! The Arkham Asylum and 40's Batmobile will return in the next several months in improved, non-beta form (there will even be an interior for the Batmobile!), so keep your eyes open! Hope you and yours have a joyous and prosperous New Year! And I hope you'll keep letting G.A.S.P. be a part of it! Cheers!

A Hot Pair for a Scorching Summer!

It's been a broiler here in Ol' Sunny Southern Cal, so I've decided to acknowledge that fact by posting a pair of red hot items. First up, The Flame, a Golden Age hero from Fox Publications. This guy predated the Human Torch and had some pretty cool, er hot, superpowers. You'll find him on the main page. Then, as a special treat, scroll to the bottom and click over to the Gallery page where you'll find Alfredo Podesta's reworking of my Human Torch model. His work is really excellent and I hope to be able to post more.

Your response to the Captain America playset was very favorable, so here's hoping our new diorama will bring you even more joy! It's a sort of "What If?" tableau, featuring the Golden Age Green Arrow and Speedy squaring off against ol' Solomon Grundy circa 1944. This match-up did happen, but not in this era, so it's lot's of fun!! Get it HERE.

Take a Look at "The Vision!"

Here's a little gem from the able pens of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Direct from the "World of Smoke and Mists" comes the interplanetary crime fighter Aarkus - Destroyer of Evil, aka "The Vision." This is one of Simon and Kirby's earliest efforts, predating Captain America by four months. The character ran in Marvel Mystery Comics for some 35 issues - a pretty healthy run by GA standards, and has even appeared in more recent publications. You can get him HERE.

Friends of the site, old and new, I would like to streamline things a bit. If every Subscriber and Follower also became a Member, I could send you advanced notices, previews and special gifties all at once. This would streamline communication which could lead to developing a community of some sort.

So here's my new proposal. Become a Member and receive two closed models of your choice ( if you still need any), or an unreleased model. Plus a second bonus unreleased model, and even something else extra special! Tease...Tease...

Finally got a chance to get this posted...sorry for the wait... To coincide (sort of) with the announcement of Chris Evans' role in the upcoming Captain America film, G.A.S.P. gives you the "Captain America vs. the Axis" diorama! It features Ol' Cap duking it out with a pair of Nasty Nazis. There's even room for Bucky if you want to include him! In fact, you could place any character in Cap's place, put their nameplate on the base and let them do battle with those awful Axis a-holes! This model inaugurates a new Dioramas & Playsets section on the website, and there are more cool items in the works for future release!

HAWKGIRL Alights in G.A.S.P. Land!!!

There is some controversy as to when and even if Hawkgirl actually joined the JSA, but I believe her to be a member in good standing, and a strong Golden Age heroine, so I have brought her to the site. I regret I have not had the chance to build her yet, so she is a BETA. If you build her, please send photos and let me know of any glitches you encounter. I hope you enjoy building this winged wench! I want to take a moment to thank my lucky stars, and comic artist/genius Chris Ware for allowing me to use the template he created (with minor modifications) as the basis for the models on the GASP website. For those who aren't familiar with Mr. Ware, he is a multi-talented comic artist with multiple Eisner, Harvey and National Cartoonist Society Awards to his credit. You can read a bit about him at Wikipedia, and check out his on-line directory The ACME Novelty Archive. For a real treat, pick up a copy of his excellent graphic novel Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Kid on Earth. You can also find his original Bat-Man model bundled with Chip Kidd's book, Batman Collected. Once again, thank you Mr. Ware.

Here's the new post I promised. A charming character from the folks at MLJ Comics -The Hangman! A hero born in vengeance and bathed in blood! Unlike his modern-day counterparts, the Hangman had no issue with terminating evildoers, often in rather grisly ways. This figure is a BETA, so if you build him, please let me know of any glitches you find, and send pix for the Gallery. It could be worth a few bonus models :) Enjoy!
